I've heard that some Malory Towers and St. Clare's fan fiction includes romantic relationships between some of the girls, particularly Bill and Clarissa.

I think it translates as something like - "female same-sex pairings seem to be popular among Blyton writers, but I prefer general non-romantic fiction."

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I think Chinky/Chair took the cake, though. Maybe that's why Molly snipped the Chair's wings with her embroidery scissors...

What on earth are you talking about.... or should I not ask?
There have been plenty of examples of trying to extrapolate modern interpretations from books of a bygone era, but really! As far as the above statement goes I have literally no idea what you have in mind. Nor am I sure I wish to know!

I'm aware of where it's from, - I've been reading the Wishing Chair on and off for the last sixty or more years, but have no idea of what Paul is alluding to! And giving me chapter and verse, so to speak, would not, I think, make me suddenly read more into what is written than was ever meant. That's what is so annoying and in a way insulting - that an innocent remark or incident can be so badly interpreted.

Someone wrote a story on the blytonslash Live Journal community once, romantically pairing Chinky with the Wishing Chair. I was poking fun at the lengths some people will go to.

I don't want to speak out of turn, but I think Paul was hoping to shock as per! And maybe quickly changed his mind!

For once I knew what Paul was talking about. I'm aware of - but haven't read - the story he was referring to. I believe that story also goes beyond a romantic pairing to something else entirely so it's not really a suitable topic here.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

On the subject of fanfiction, is anyone particularly keen on fanfiction that implies the characters of St. Clare's exist in the 21st century and have joined a traveling university? I'll try my best to keep it close to the original style, but then again, I'm not sure.

The changes in premise here are:
-It's based on The Sims 4.
-Some of the students have gotten Journeyman Grants to travel the world, and these students are arranged in cohorts depending on where they go.
-Bobby, Carlotta, Janet, the O'Sullivan Twins, and Prudence are in the US-based cohort.
-Prudence Arnold is a major character, and a Eurasian Christian who has cousins in the USA. Japanese, to be exact.
-Prue still behaves badly but one of her cousins, who behaves rather like Lucy Oriell, tries to give her a chance.
-I will be ambiguous as to whether Prue can change her ways.
-Romance is not a big part of this story.
Avatar model: Prudence "Norimi" Arnold.
I have a bad habit of hijacking character ideas I like.
