Thanks for that, Timmy254. I enjoyed reading it and seeing the photos. Hope Gary Russell achieved his greatest ambition in life - to go to a disco! Funny that the writers of the article gave the title of Enid Blyton's first book as Real Fairies rather than Child Whispers.

Thanks Timmy254. Seeing that brought back a few memories, especially the bit from the TV schedule. I remember geting 560p pocket money as well. The mind boggles now when one thinks of the amount of things one could do with 50p then.

Southern TV enclosed these information sheets with the autographed photos they sent to the fans (scroll down to view them all and click on the images to enlarge):

Thanks, Timmy254. I hadn't realised before that Gary, Marcus, Jennifer and Michele were all born in 1964.

They made a mistake. Gary was born in 1963 and Marcus, Jennifer and Michele in 1964.

Cheers, Timmy254. I was just reading about the inaccuracy of the press/information sites/media in general on another thread!

That's one impressive collection Zoe, at the time I never realised there was merchandising relating to the series apart from the tv tie-in books which I had.
I do fondly remember the tv times article with all four actors including Gary reading the Dr Who novel.

Re: Famous Five '78 series Memorabilia - UPDATED 130507 Page 3
I've found another couple of articles from the TV Times in the 70s.
There is an aricle in the 18-24 November 1979 edition which talks about children's fiction, including Blyton's Famous Five, to tie-in with the start of series 2.
Then there is an article about Stranger Danger and child kidnappings to tie in with the story Five Fall into Adventure, in the 23-29 June 1979 edition.
Not sure if these are already uploaded anywhere, but I have them in PDF format and can forward them on if required.

Re: Famous Five '78 series Memorabilia
Split from another topic.
Hi there,
I recently came across an LP album of Five On A Treasure Island from the '70's TV series.
I thought the photo of the 'five' was nice so thought I'd share it.
(Also like it because I had a T-Shirt just like Dick's when I was about 10 so it also brings back happy memories from childhood!).

I listened through the LP and it's actually quite good. Not voiced by the actors from the TV series though and more or less authentic to the book!!
