Thanks, Eddie and Anita.....my 1,000th post seems to have taken a rather unusual path.
Took me ages to get there but, then, no-one has called me 'Speedy Gonzales' for several decades....

Re: Lashings of Links
I love the picture of this link, with the two children, dog and sun dial. What book is this from, Tony, or Anita?

Hi Julie, I think it is from "Round the Clock Stories" in the Dean's Rewards series, the first reprint. The artist is one of my favourites; Rene Cloke.

Thanks for the info Kate Mary. It's a lovely picture. I'll look up the name Rene Cloke and see if I can find any more of her works.Kate Mary wrote:Hi Julie, I think it is from "Round the Clock Stories" in the Dean's Rewards series, the first reprint. The artist is one of my favourites; Rene Cloke.

Re: Lashings of Links
Julie, you only have to put the name Rene Cloke into search in the Cave and you will come up with 37 books that she illustrated for EB. She did a great deal of work for both Dean and Award and was actually still illustrating books in her 90s.

Thanks, Tony. I've put her name into the cave and have looked at the books she illustrated. I also put in a Google search and found that she was born in 1904, or 1905 it says and was originally from Plymouth. I also see that you can also buy some of her illustrations as posters.
Her work is so lovely.

Re: Lashings of Links
Rene Cloke has been one of my favourite illustrators since I was a child (she illustrated a number of the Dean & Son Blyton books), as have Grace Lodge and Stuart Tresilian.

Re: Lashings of Links
May I add my praise to the Lashings of Links? Everything under one roof so to speak, very useful indeed.
