It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
Anyone in the Swanage area? If so, theres a nice Enid Blyton display of books, jigsaws, games, etc, in the front window of the Oxfam shop. I only had a quick look as I was passing, but I had just enough time to spy Secret Seven, Noddy & F5 books & many other titles I can't remember right now. The jigsaws are Noddy & F5. The latter looks like it's from the animated TV series, but there's also smaller ones with 40 wooden pieces depicting Eileen Soper book covers(?). One of the Noddy jigsaw's has French writing on the front of the box. I think this is oui oui Noddy! I don't think there's great age to the items, but I'm sure they might compliment someone's collection, or do for youngsters. I was wondering if Viv had donated any of her stock from her Ginger Pop shop?! I'll try to have a good look tomorrow, if I get the time.

Of course if there is a Famous Five one from the 1950s you might consider buying that as well!

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
Remember, Julie, I only had a quick look at the small display as I was passing by this morning, & I can't guarantee it would be worth your time & effort to travel all the way from Cornwall, then only to find the items sold or unsatisfactory! I just hope you're in the vicinity! I won't be able to have a proper look at the display on Monday, as I'll be away from Swanage all day from 5am.
So I strongly advise you to phone the Oxfam shop before you intend to travel. They'll advise you regarding the items on display. Their contact details are below.

The wooden jigsaws sound good! Especially if Famous five - but I'm a bit confused as I don't think Famous Five puzzles came in 50 pieces - usually they were nearer 200...and I think they were cardboard. So I think if there are FF puzzles of Eileen Soper book covers, they'd have been specially made.

I really must take more care. It should have read, That'll take no time in Julie's helicopter. Thought I'd better say that before Domino Dave got upset again!
Francis, Bill might be a bit old for Julie!

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
The lady who works in the Oxfam shop told me that the books, etc, were donated by Viv after the Ginger pop shop closed down. I had a feeling they were! The 40 wooden piece jigsaws are produced by a company called Wentworth, well, that's what it says on the box! They're very small jigsaws depicting F5 covers by Eileen Soper. The TV cartoon F5 jigsaw has gone. So has some of the other items I saw on Sunday.Rob Houghton wrote:The wooden jigsaws sound good! Re: What Are You Doing Now?
I remember the Wentworth Jigsaws depicting the F.F. covers, in Viv's shop, number 6. I have a couple of them myself from Viv.
I also have the Wentworth puzzle of Enid Blyton's portrait from Viv's shop, and of course Viv used to sell my own Wentworth jigsaw of Green Hedges.
