Another TV reference.
Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads. Thelma has a tea chest with a few childhood mementos, including a hockey stick, a panda, and Five on Kirrin Island. I notice it didn't have it's D/W.

Re: Blyton References on TV
There was an amusing item on the local TV news about a group of children walking in the countryside who spotted a couple of burglars on the run in the Redhill area of Surrey - a police helicopter was searching for them and the children lay down on the ground forming a human arrow to point the direction the men had taken - as the presenter commented, shades of Enid Blyton's heros and heroines!
"Its a magic wood!" said Fanny suddenly.

I saw this on the local news as well and they also featured the twelve children on The One Show. I think we discussed it elsewhere in the forums as people wondered about whether it actually happened as it was originally announced on April 1st!!

Here's the thread where we discussed it earlier: http://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/foru ... =14&t=7095" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I saw the story had come up again on the BBC website today — I wonder why, when it happened nearly a month ago?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Meridian must have run out of TV news and be on to the repeats!! The human arrow looked astonishingly clear filmed from the helicopter, brilliant idea by the children!Tony Summerfield wrote:I saw this on the local news as well and they also featured the twelve children on The One Show. I wondered for a moment until I realized the children were receiving an award for their action.Courtenay wrote:I saw the story had come up again on the BBC website today — I wonder why, when it happened nearly a month ago?
Enid Blyton was mentioned more than once as well.

Yes, and Gyles Brandreth referred to them as the "Tremendous Twelve" (I think he used 'tremendous'), no doubt as a link with the Famous Five or Secret Seven.

Re: Blyton References on TV
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Doctor Who episode where The Doctor and Donna are talking about famous authors and Charles Dickens and Agatha Christie are mentioned and Donna says something along the lines of;
"It's like going to tea with Enid Blyton and Noddy. Noddy's not real is he?"
And the Doctor replies, "No, Noddy's not real."

I once met Noddy at a Noddy Day in Chalfont St. Giles. He shook hands with my son, who was only three at the time. We also exchanged a few words with Mr. Plod!
