That was quick work, Julie! You're right, of course. Over to you!

Thanks, Anita.

Next one.

Who said this and in which episode?

"Hey, look, a circus!"

Further to your last quote, Anita, I know you didn't ask for why it was said. And I was going to wait until Monday and see if anyone else could do the honours instead. Amazing the quote got answered so quickly....!

Well, forgive me, were I to have answered the quote, I wanted to elaborate:
Upon hearing from Julian, Dick and Anne that George had gone off early to explore the moors (which wasn't true, of course, she really went off with Timmy to explore "the railway tunnel to nowhere"), Mr Luffy had at first decided he'd like to join with them to explore as well as look for me. But when they said the moors wouldn't possibly interest him, well, he'd decided to gladly hold back and let the youngsters go off while he looked after the camp.

Kindly, yes. Eccentric, yes. Accent-minded, maybe. But certainly he must've been smart: he didn't want to hinder the Five, as much as the Five didn't want to hinder him, and he must've known they could conduct themselves well by themselves!

Or so Cyril Luckham portrayed Mr Luffy, for me at least!
Anyway... now I'm kinda glad I didn't answer the quote. Being a FAMOUS FIVE TV fan, I tend to ramble on thereof a fair bit!

Now, as for Julie's quote:

Anne, in "Five are Together Again", upon exiting the passenger carriage and noticing the "Tapper's Circus" poster on the wall of Kirrin train station.

Probably Five on Finniston Farm as there's a jackdaw called Nosey in that story. I'll guess Dick said it, because his watch is mentioned in a few episodes.

Correct on Dick and "Finniston Farm"! 8) In fact, Nosey would make off with his watch just as Dick was waking up....!

Anne, inquiring to Julian, in "Five On A Secret Trail" after their brief encounter with that "countrywoman" (who was, in fact, a disguised Jess, one of the spies):
ANNE: "Julian, why did we tell a complete stranger our plans?"
JULIAN: "You didn't think she was a real countrywoman, did you?"
ANNE (understanding): "Oh."
FYI, about the spies whose names are unknown to us until the end credits:

Jess was played by Diana Lambert,
the bearded male, Brian, was played by Gertan Klauber,
and the other male, Mack, was played by Peter Wilson.
