Re: Journal 56
I see the new Journal is now up on the Journal page - and it looks a great feast of interesting articles as always. I love the cover - very colourful! Particularly looking forward to reading John Pickup's article!

Looks like a excellent variety of articles, as usual. I also really like the striking cover. I look forward to receiving this!

They are all great, 56 will be no exception.

It's OK, John. I'm in there to drag the standard down with you.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

My Journal has just dropped through the letter box! What a temptation to change my plans for the day...... but at least I'll treat myself to a peep while I have a cup of tea!

Mine also came today, but I didn't know whether to mention it or not in case most people's don't arrive until Monday. It looks good, but not sure I've time to read it today, maybe I can make that my Mother's Day treat tomorrow:-
'Sorry kids, don't want to spend the day with you, I'd rather read my Journal'.

Re: Journal 56
Mine arrived too - looks brilliant as always. I've looked through it briefly - read the letters page and Johns article on collecting. I must say, John, I enjoyed your article a lot and wished it had been longer! Looking forward to the next part!
I was interested reading John Henstocks letter about Enid and religion, as he says he has come to the conclusion that Enid must have had 'some sort of faith in God'. I've often wondered about this and mentioned it in several articles in the past. I've always felt she wanted to have faith but struggled to actually believe it as strongly as she wanted to. Although her books are very moral in tone and religion and God is often mentioned, and she wrote many religious themed books, I've always felt the opposite to John Henstock - that Enid in fact had very little faith, but knew her books should promote some form of moral religious leaning in order to seem responsible. Rather as a teacher must teach things they don't always totally believe in, I feel Enid was the same with the religious parts of her stories. She seemed to be putting forward ideas and beliefs that belonged to other people, rather than to herself. But that's just the way I see it!
All in all it looks a great Journal, and I look forward to reading more. The coloured segments and the cover are beautiful, especially the 'little books' on the back cover.
