That's great, Katharine! What a lucky last-minute find!

You sound like my kind of girl, Katharine! After a cup of tea and watching the steam train depart

It was a great cup of tea, well mug actually. I hate drinking out of cardboard containers, I think it tastes so much better when it's served in china crockery. Yes, it was pretty much a perfect day yesterday, I chose my calendar for my parents to buy me for Christmas - it has vintage railway posters of East Anglia.
I love Sheringham, and wish I could live there, but maybe the dream wouldn't be as good if it turned into a reality. Although I can't imagine I'd ever tire of living within a stone's throw of the sea and a heritage railway line.
I probably sound really childish, but finding that book yesterday has left me on a real 'high' and I'm still smiling about it today.

I don't think you sound at all childish, Katharine! All book-lovers will understand that sort of joy! And like you I find sea views, cups of tea, antique/retro shops and vintage railway posters very appealing.

Oh, most certainly. You have to have the appropriate vessel for the drink. I hate plastic pint "glasses" you get at outside events. I hate drinking Old Thumper out of a Doom Bar glass. As for drinking a fine malt whisky out of a teacup.....Aaaarrrggghhhhh!Katharine wrote: I hate drinking out of cardboard containers, I think it tastes so much better when it's served in china crockery.

Anita, yes it's nice to think that many people reading my post would have felt the same pleasure in finding a book. I suppose the perfect ending to the day would have been to sit on the beach and read the book, but it was too cold and dark for that.
Nigel, I'm not a beer or a whisky drinker, but I would imagine they wouldn't taste the same unless in a glass. I would imagine that a tea cup might be preferable to a plastic beaker though? How about swigging beer from a bottle, is that the same?

A disappointing edition of "Look Out Secret Seven" arrived in the post today.
I'd originally ordered a HB 60's edition of "Good Work Secret Seven" and that got damaged in the post. I ordered this as a replacement and accidentally selected a horrible modern edition with an appalling, cartoon cover. It will be one read and straight to the charity shop with it.

That's a shame, BurlingtonBertram. I hope you're able to get a better edition at a later date.

I must say though that I enjoyed the plot at least.

"The Greedy Rabbit" arrived, though I wonder when I will read it. I'm just glad I managed to finish three handful of Noddy/Nicki-books meeting several times bad golliwogs, the Saucepan Man two times and Enid's advertising of E&B productions.

A slightly battered 1970s series Five Go to Smugglers Top annual for £1 in my local Oxfam shop. Tonight's bedtime reading is sorted now.

That annual was recently mentioned in another thread, John. It's a good'un!
What do you mean by "Enid's advertising of E&B productions", Wolfgang?

Oops, it should have read N. & B. Works.
In "Noddy meets Father Christmas" Santa Claus is asking Noddy to drive him around. Their last station is N. & B. Works, which stands for Noddy and Big-Ears Works, making Noddy and Big-Ears dolls. I suppose Enid wanted introduce them to children so they'd ask their parents to get one or buy one themselves.

Ah yes - thanks for that. I wonder if any readers actually went looking for a shop called 'N. & B. Works'?
