Maybe so Moonraker but wouldn't that encourage the rest of us to give more in-depth replies?

Ahem, Moonraker, if you're referring to me - if I wanted to overtake you I would have done so by now, hon ;).

What we do on EF, once a year, is have an 'awards ceremony.' We have different categories and obviously what flies on EF would not necessarily fly here (I see no point in having a 'best political commentaror' category for instance ;)), but it might work. You could have, I dunno, most knowledgeable, biggest Blyton TV fan, most helpful all that sort of thing. To prevent hurt feelings there could be 'fun' categories too such as, I dunno, 'biggest Julian fan' or 'most likely to get a very good from Mamzelle' etc. But anyway if people aren't keen then there'd be no point :)
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Time to die.

Hands out.....in preperation for a smacking. I actually dont mind having an annual awards ceremony but can't see many people being all that interested. Quite a number of members seem to come and go, someone might win an award months after they have already given up posting. Other than that it would probably be the same few people winning over and over again, eg. biggest TV fan is probably going to be G@K. No contest.

I have always liked the forums just as they are. Friendly people (spammers notwithstanding  ) discussing the works of EB and occassionally meandering off into other areas and fields. There is the games forum for those who like a competitive edge but I dont feel that the competitive side of things should be introduced on the other areas of the forum. Just my tuppence worth.

Yes, I'm with you all the way, LS. I think if we're not careful, non-Blyton topics will have taken over! Moose's EF is an ideal place to rant and vent spleen on all things, but I feel too much competition here and too way-off topics may well spoil the unique enchantment of the Society's Forums.

What is all this competing about anyway? Does it matter if x has made 2000 posts and y has made 500?

Before we know it, there'll be end of term exams!

surely its not the number of posts that count, but the quality of them! :D
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

I'm not sure, but I can guess some of it:
I wonder what Julian would say.
