Chrissie, you seem very well organised - I am very impressed!

Katharine, I hope you have a great time in Enid County (Dorset) - I am sure you will. You will never have enough time to do everything!

Let's hope we all meet sometime in the year.

Francis, are you sure? Maybe she has a secret identity on this forum just to keep a watchful eye on you - after all you said yourself, what would you do without her? ;-)

hi , i really really really hope there will be an EB Day in 2014. i`ve only been to 2 and loved them ! great way of meeting other members, buying EB memorabilia, books etc and hearing great speakers. Twford is a great venue bit think birmingham would be good as its more central and easier to get to by train.
by the way , i hate ginger beer! give me orange juice or a cup of tea any day! :)  :x

We all share your hope Sue and yes, Birmingham would be a well located place. It would be good to see you again too. Fingers crossed. :D

Hi all,

I have to apologize for not writing sooner. december was just a crazy month with hardly any time on the computer and since 1st of January we were dealing with all kinds of problems in the house caused by the blizzard and the following cold spell.

My husband asked me to figure out if there will be a Blyton forumites meeting in Bourne End or not (sorry, I'm not that interested in Birmingham, but would come to Twyford in a heart beat if there would take place another EB Day this year).

Some of the forumites have met Jacky Hawthorne (or maybe even e-mailed her), so maybe you could persuade/convince her to open on Saturday 17th of may?
Then we could admire the "Old Thatch" gardens and have some cake and tea inside.

André needs to book our flights for May and if there won't be a get together at all, then we have to skip our short trip to the UK and just return from Jersey - London to Boston on May 16th.

Hopefully this time I will hear from more members if they would be interested and could make it on that Saturday. I really would enjoy meeting you all! :)
I'm looking forward to hear from you.

BTW I will bring this thread up to the top once more on Saturday morning hoping that there are much more forumites active in the threads who might notice this thread.

Cheers,
Chrissie

PS: I forgot to mention that "Old Thatch" is usually only open on Thursdays and Sundays plus on another day. Anita just told me about that.
So in case Mrs. Hawthorne cannot be persuaded to open on Saturday 17th of may, maybe we could meet instead inside the Spade Oak (hopefully it's not too loud in there) and later explore the FFO & Dog Peterswood?
Of course it would be absolutely great if Duncan MacLaren would be able and willing to come to Bourne End and be our Peterswood guide on that day. I will ask him in a PM.
When we were there in September 2008, we were too exhausted after walking the long long path from Marlow to Bourne End to walk anymore in Bourne End.
My husband would enjoy that, too. He loved the river walk.

PS 2: I tried to find him in the list of users, but he's not listed in "D".
Does somebody know his user name? Was it "Lenoir"?

Duncan McLaren's username is Green Hedges, but he posted the other day in another thread to say that he wouldn't be able to come to a meet-up in Bourne End (he lives in Scotland).

The Old Thatch gardens are open this year from 2 PM - 5.30 PM every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from May 14th to August 31st:

Green Hedges, he commented thus in another thread:
I'm too far away from Bourne End to lead a tour of locations. Maybe if there is a Society meeting in Bourne End I could 'join in' by posting a new analysis of a Find-Outers book on the appropriate day.
Edit: Pipped to the post again!
