Yes alas we have almost a whole year to wait. Were'nt we lucky with the weather last week though, its damp and cold today. Perfect timing last week. Hopefully Marcus and Co will make it again next year.
Probably just a tad early for the 2009 thread PS, best to wait at least a month.

It would be lovely if Marcus Harris and & Co. could attend at the next EB Day. I'd love to meet them. I've been watching Maureen Lipman as Enid Blyton, on You Tube, she was so good. What a good Enid Blyton she would make on the day also.
Just been working out too, it's Enid 40th Anniversary of her death, this November.

Yes: Maureen Lipman is superb as Enid. I'm lucky enough to have the whole documentary, 'Sunny Stories', starring Maureen Lipman, which was available at one of the EB Days a few years ago when producer Ken Howard was one of the speakers.
Enid died 40 years ago this year: that was why the portrait was unveiled to her at this EB Day.
True about the weather last weekend: very Enid Blyton with its blue skies and sunshine! The weather just HAS to be good for a typical EB Day!

I know she was cremated but is there any memorial place or marker stone where flowers could be laid? If so perhaps we could all chip in for a wreath.

She was very good playing Joyce Grenfell as well (someone else who wasn't quite what she seemed to be).
We actually tried to get Maureen Lipman two or three years back, but we have to approach people months in advance and the problem with any actors is that they always hope that they will be working by the time May arrives. This was the reason why Maureen Lipman (and others) turned us down, and as it turned out she was right to do so, as she was in Oklahoma at the time of the EB Day - a Saturday matinee. I have also had the problem of people agreeing to speak in October and then changing their minds in March, and at this stage it is too late to get anyone else.
It is not an easy business getting speakers and I get plenty of suggestions, but it is then left to me to try and get someone - not an easy task!
Being back at home after spending some additional days at the UK I would like to say that it was again a great EB day which I enjoyed very much, meeting all the friendly people ( you ! ), listening and viewing to the program and of course too looking at the book stalls. Not to forget the dinner at the Red Lion the evening before and the famous picnic at the end !
Having in mind that I`m not regularly posting at the forums I especially liked the warm welcome given by those whom I met the year before, and it was of course nice too to meet some of you I didn`t had the possibility to met before.
And thanks to Tony and his supporter team, for your tireless work and especially for bringing the old manuscripts and the famous original cover artworks of the adventure series with you!
