I'm grateful to Tony for including the illustrations mentioned above, as I had not seen them before.
Well I'm almost through the Journal. Every single article has been most enjoyable.
May I thank every single contributor for their excellent articles.
Even Betty Maxey got a fleeting mention in this month's Journal which was superb.
More Maxey artwork in future Journals would be most appreciated Tony!
The article on the longer length short stories and the inclusion of the Queen, Prince Charles & Princess Anne was most touching.
There's a pic of the young Charles with hand in pocket which is exactly how he stands all these years later..
I will press on as I have nearly finished the whole Journal.

Yes, I noticed that immediately! As for more Betty Maxey illustrations, I guess that will save on ink...

Love the comment about saving on ink (though I actually like a lot of Betty Maxey's work)!

Well, as far as I know there's worse Famous Five artwork out there.
And considering the fact that some Famous Five editions doesn't feature internal illustrations, the ink saving thought isn't so far-fetched in my opinion.

Re: Journal 80
I am very pleased to have received my copy of Journal 80 at long last (the post is slow here). Looks like another great read.
I've already read a couple of articles.
Starting with the interesting analysis of the first 7 Find Outers books. I agree with the comment about the opening of The Mystery of the Secret Room, it is a lovely scene.
Anita's account of the outing to see the new musical was entertaining as well. An autumn afternoon, catching trains and buses and having a meal worthy of the Five - it all sounds good. The Famous Five show also sounded worthwhile, and a good effort by the cast. I think I would have also found it a bit strange. Nice to see that the Five are still famous in that sense.

Re: Journal 80
I'm glad your Journal has finally arrived, Lenoir. I must re-read The Mystery of the Secret Room as I remember the opening chapters very well but don't recall much about the rest of the story!
It's hard to believe that it's almost eight months since Tony and I saw the Famous Five musical. Time passes so quickly!
