Good point, Kate. I too wondered if there was a thread/string but couldn't work out what I was seeing.Kate Mary wrote:I don't see a heater or a cardboard tube just a shaft of sunlight from the French door. Thats exactly what I see too. It's just sunlight with something hanging from Enid's typewriter. An optical illusion.Kate Mary wrote:I don't see a heater or a cardboard tube just a shaft of sunlight from the French door. I've had my journal but unfortunately it's still in the envelope! I have been and still am really busy with work, always am this time of year as everyone wants their pets pampered for Christmas, so I haven't got round to reading it yet! I've not gone through this thread either as I don't to spoiler myself, I will when I finally get a chance to read the journal, but for now thank you in advance Tony!

I've also been quite busy and haven't read half the Journal yet! I will write more once I have done so!

I'm ploughing through the Journal and really enjoying it. The variety and standard of the articles is excellent.

Re: Journal 64
My EBS Journal arrived on Tuesday and I can't wait to find enough time to start reading it.
Maybe on Saturday when my husband returns from playing golf and takes care of Cody...
Thanks, Tony, it's very beautiful again and I really appreciate the labour of love that you put into the Journal.
Each of them is a real gem!

I've read the first two articles by John Henstock and Julie and enjoyed them. I've always been a fan of the Secret Seven books and think that they're very underrated. I intend to take the journal to work with me as I have a couple of night shifts at the hospital tonight and tomorrow.

I really must comment on the sumptuous centrespread in the latest Journal. You can get a small flavour of it in the illustration above from the cave.
How Enid must have delighted to have had her stories brought to life by such a talented artist.
The above picture doesn't really do the Journal's centrepiece justice.
Looking closely at the larger Journal illustration I did wonder who was inviting who to the party? Someone who has read the books will surely know.

Yes - the original is such a beautiful illustration by Dorothy Wheeler! I presumed the little pixie was giving the invite to Josie, Click and Bun.

Re: Journal 64
I think you are right Rob as another illustration possibly appears to show them heading to the party?

Re: Journal 64
I see that Mr Pink-Whistle has been invited too!
I must admit I have a couple of Josie Click and Bun books, and also Dame Slap's School, illustrated by Wheeler - but I've never read them. I've also never read the paperback of Up the Faraway Tree, or the original 'Mr Tumpy's Caravan' - all for the same reason - they don't seem much like 'proper' stories, as they are all picture strips. It seems a bit of a lot of page turning to do for very little story, lol!

Re: Journal 64
Reading all these comments are torture, I live in Australia and usually get my Journals about 1 month after the UK/EU lot get their Journals. Funny thing is that I'm actually only 12 years old, and I am already planning to move to the UK. Haha

Yes, I am in a similar position as I am based in Japan.
With a bit of luck we might have them in time for Christmas though.

I usually receive my journal within one week. I received Journal 64 on Nov, 28.

I have only read one article, so far. We have been ridiculously busy, and there's little let up for the rest of the month. I will get down to it and write my thoughts then.Rob Houghton wrote:I've also been quite busy and haven't read half the Journal yet! I will write more once I have done so!
