Thanks Pete-- -- yes Andy would be a super husband-- but I prefer Barney-- Anyway.cant marry both-- I being a one man woman would like to have Barney
As for Mr Goon , I think Mrs Moon of Spiteful letters will be a good match for him-- two rotten eggs together.

I admire your choice of Barney Nair.
He is genuine, kind, caring and considerate and I just know he would always ensure you came with him
on every single fishing or boating trip he made.
He would make sure a Blyton fan like yourself as his wife enjoyed many afternoons of delight
sailing through beautiful sun kissed seas observing multitudinous bird life etc.
Yes, Mr Goon & Mrs Moon do indeed deserve each other and Mrs Moon's ability with a large sausage
roll, cooking them just the way Mr Goon likes them would surely mean their love would last forever.

I think Barney would be a great husband BUT I am not sure that I could cope with Miranda, which is the main reason I did not consider him.

All strength to the privately printed journal which publishes worthy contributions which would otherwise never see the light of day. The problem with privately printed journals is that the brilliant article has only a limited readership - better some than none of course. I've been dipping in to past issues of the Enid Blyton Journal and in Number 31 is one such article, 'Imagined Realities' Part One by Terry Gustafson (who I suspect is a fellow antipodean of some sort as he uses the word 'cobber') pp.16-23. He looks at Enid Blyton's female characters, the ones who charmed him from the age of six. Had he fallen in love with any of them? The answer lies in the final sentence - SHE who appears in the fifth St. Clares book. (Shades of Conan Doyle and Rider Haggard.) I'll have to wait until I get to read part two to find out, as I've read (as a schoolgirl) the St.Clare's series only once. Funnily enough, the details have escaped me. A devoted reader's response, especially to the school stories, and a thoroughly enjoyable light-hearted article.

From the Barney books I've read it seems to take them a long time to get to the action. I don't know if this would be reflected in a marriage situation.

The build up in the Rockingdown Mystery was slow but worth it I think for the marvellous descriptions of the manor house. If that were similar in marriage with Barney then yes you would have to patient !!

It's Lotta -- not Lottie-- the name of the boy with the goose was Willie

Thanks for the information. I got mixed up with Lotta and Lottie. Lottie funnily is the name of my neighbour's dog !! very cute and cuddly I have to say. Perhaps a bit like Lotta too ! My top 3 choice of husbands are are : Fatty, Barney and Snubby because of his jokes and ability to strum the zither. Bottom 3 - not including baddies are : Peter (secret seven) too bossy, Uncle Quentin (very bad tempered and forgetful) and Mr Good - horrible and stupid man !!

Poor Peter - nobody seems to like him! If I wasn't taken with Bill I'd have him, I don't mind bossy men . I'd rather have an assertive man than a wimpy one any day!

Oh dear, I misread that for a moment as "My top choice of 3 husbands..." — now is that called trying to have it all??

This thread is messing with my brain! Last night I dreamt I was reading a book where Fatty had married Claudine!
