Hill Cottage - Five Have a Mystery to Solve

Post by pinkwhistle53 »

I am trying to locate Enid's Hill Cottage where Mrs Layman lives with Wilfrid. I know Enid says in the foreword to the book that it is still there (1962). I have seen on 19c maps that there was a building with a clearly marked well to the south of Purbeck Golf Club, and I'm unconvinced that Agglestone Cottage, mentioned by Dr Andrew Norman, is the one. I wonder if anyone can help with this? Thankyou

That was 60 years ago - busy railways were running there back then. So much of the area around Broadstone has been redeveloped beyond recognition. Maybe our resident Dorset expert, Viv, can help.

These side by side maps can be of great assistance.

''The Landscape of Kirrin' thread contains some interesting comments about locations. The road to the cottage seems to be identified in the photo on page 42.
