Pricing for a complete Famous Five PB collection from 1970

Post by ShenValleyLewis »

Hello all,

You can read my introduction here: https://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/for ... =15&t=8890" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've found a complete paperback set of the Famous Five series from 1970 on eBay for £42.00. I've only recently started hunting for Blytons, but I've learned that used copies of her books seem to be considerably more expensive than for other popular children's authors. Was just wondering if anyone has an opinion on whether this is a decent price for the set, or if I should wait and keep looking.

Thanks all

Lewis

I should mention that I'm aware of the issues discussed here (https://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/for ... f=4&t=8656" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and I'd be happy with a set from the 1970's. A set of first editions would be far too expensive, and I don't mind revisions (much) as long as they don't involve wholesale rewriting.

If the books are in the United States go for it!

Shipping a lower priced set from the UK probably won't be cheap these days.

Regards (and welcome!)

No, the seller is in the UK (the price I quoted is in pounds sterling). It's rare to find anything like a complete set in the US. Most of the sets I've seen on eBay have been from sellers in the UK or (less often) Australia.

I think that £2 a book is pretty reasonable. It is possible that it would work out cheaper to buy one or two at a time, getting as many as you can from the US and the rest from the UK but it would be time consuming!

If buying from the UK this batch of 19 may go cheap - but may finish too soon for you to bid?

All the editions are in the cave... there are around 6 Knight editions between 1970 and 1990. The only obvious borders I can see are on the TV covers.
