Thanks, Pete. Ian Regan used to visit this website quite frequently and posted some details about Armada in 2008, including the information that Gordon Landsborough's daughters Diana and Bonny (when they were aged 13 and 10 respectively) were the first editors of the Armada paperbacks and chose what to publish. Ian Regan was in touch with Diana and Bonny at one point (or with their brother, at least) and we hoped they might be able to write something for the Journal but it didn't happen in the end:
Thank you everyone for sharing all the links and the insightful information.
I never knew there existed so many Armada books. I wasnt aware they even published the classics Treasure island and Prisoner of Zenda . I wish the back of the covers were also available to see the tiny art in the bottom .
I was also not aware that the omnibus /3-in-1 books were made from surplus stock of individual titles and merged after removing the covers ....lols ..I always marvelled at how smart the creators were in choosing three great family themed stories of Redroofs , Those dreadful children and Put em rights and printing them together with a lovely cover design under the banner Armada 3 in 1 series for a 'great value' price.
I went and checked the one I have and saw it is slightly smaller in height to the normal sized books ( as the final output would have to be cropped short for neatness) .
The secret of the 3 in 1 is discovered ..lols
Oh dear it's been a while since I looked at the site but it was beautifully done and it's a tragedy if it's lost. I've tried googling Armada Books UK but it just throws up sites selling books.
