THE Book
For your services to humanity you are to be awarded one fine in dust-jacket title by Enid Blyton. Which one will it be.? I've decided on 'Up the Faraway Tree' but you can choose that one too. There is an unlimited supply available to such benefactors as we are, but only one each.

Re: THE Book
I forgot to add that it has to be a first edition, but then again, why should it be? Some readers don't care about such things.

Re: THE Book
I can’t quite make up my mind if I would opt for a high value book such as Five On a Treasure Island or a personal favourite........
I’ll go for a much loved book and it had to be Five On a Hike Together

Re: THE Book
I'd probably go for The Magic Faraway Tree because I've got The Enchanted Wood and The Folk of the Faraway Tree as hardbacks in dustwrappers, but not the second book.
On the other hand, I might go for Benjy and the Others (very difficult to find and it has a bright, cheerful dustwrapper) or Those Dreadful Children (because the wraparound dustwrapper by Grace Lodge is gorgeous).

Re: THE Book
I’d go for The Mystery of the Missing Necklace : the best book in a superb series.
I should have mentioned it must be a Methuen hardback with a dust wrapper, but it doesn’t have to be a first edition.

I would choose the above hardback. I have all the books I really want. This is my favorite book of all time and I already have it in lots of original and early editions except this version which seems hard to find.
I think there's currently one for sale in Australia.

Re: THE Book
Good question.
I can't think of a specific title, but I would go for a book that has either never been re-printed, or something that I know has, but in an abridged form.
While I can understand the appeal to some people of something like a first edition of a FF or FFO book, as I have reprints of all those, which I believe are pretty much the same as the first edition, I'd like something that I am unlikely to be able to access any other way.

The Secret Island. It's a lovely cover and very rare I believe so worth a fortune.

Re: THE Book
My favourite book is Valley of Adventure but I've already got it in a first edition. My choice would probably be Five On A Treasure Island as I've seen a couple at book fairs with prices at £1,760 in very good condition so one in fine condition would be worth considerably more.

Ooh yes, I'd take The Secret Island as well! Good choice, John (LS).

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: THE Book
I'd choose The Green Goblin book as it has two dust-wrappers so even better value
If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy

If there are two copies on offer, I think I'll request the other one.

Re: THE Book
Shadow and Katharine, your posts sent me straight to the Cave of Books. Yes. To be a custodian for such a book would be Something. I do have a nice dust-jacketed 1951 new edition, but The Green Goblin Book is incomparable. For starters, I am besotted with books that have two dust-jackets.

Either a first edition Five On a Treasure Island or Adventures of the Wishing Chair dustjacket. Can't decide which .

Re: THE Book
I've been puzzling over this conundrum - it's a good question!
At first I thought the Enid Blyton Poetry Book, because a book of poems is a traditional prize, but although I like some of the poems (I like the Great Big Wave) I'm not so keen on the cover.
Then I realised it would solve an annoying problem. I had a good sort out of my collection, which has left me with two copies of the Adventurous Four Again, and no Adventurous Four...
So if someone would care to give me a replacement copy of The Adventurous Four I'd be very pleased!
The cover is great (I even like all the different editions) and the story is a fine WW2 novel, one of Enid's best
