In First Term at Malory Towers, Enid Blyton says that the top floor of each tower consists of staff bedrooms and box rooms for storing luggage. I don't remember a whole tower being used for that purpose, unless it's in a continuation book that I haven't read.

I think it was in a (German) continuation story, Wolfgang. In the German continuation books there seem to be no girls in south tower, at least it's never mentioned - for example when west tower can't be used after the hurricane.

In the original books all towers are mentioned with girls. It's said in the first book:

The girls stood together in their classes—first-formers of North Tower, South, East, and West Tower, all together, and so on.

and

The school became a perfect circus, and North, South, East, and West Tower girls became all mixed up everywhere.

I think you do pretty well Wolfgang - you've got 2 languages to try and remember things in, I find it hard enough to remember just one.
