I'm guessing they may just be using the illustration from the book cover as a general humorous sort of picture for the box and the quiz questions don't have anything to do with the FF "adult" books themselves. The books I've tried to read have been so rambling, incoherent and boring that I can't imagine anyone being able to make a trivia quiz based on them!!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Today arrived the German editions of "Five go parenting" and "Five go gluten free". It seems no more books have been published in German (yet). That's a pity, I would have liked to see "Five on Brexit Island" and "Five escape Brexit Island". Annoyingly enough there's no hint of Bruno Vincent on the front and back cover, only in the inside you can see that it was not written by Enid Blyton :-(.

Nigel's forum has an absorbing thread about reincarnation at the moment - maybe Bruno Vincent has transmogrified into our beloved author...

I think I have the Brexit Island one, but haven't read it yet.

I have seen a few extracts from a couple of the others, and thought overall they seemed ok, but a bit weak.

I don't think I'll be getting the gluten free one though, as from what I've read about it, it seems to be taking the mickey out of people who follow a gluten free diet, and makes them out to be faddy, and just following a trend. As a family who have to avoid gluten for health reasons, I think I'd probably find it upsetting to read something that ridicules people with health problems.

Maybe that particular book isn't as bad as I think it is though?

I read five of these books some years ago but found them dull as ditchwater. I'm not against humorous takes on Enid Blyton but the five I read were long-winded and clichéd and barely raised a smile, let alone a laugh.

I have to say that I struggle with them.I have a number of them and although the concept is good after the first few pages I don't find them funny at all, just ridiculous and tedious. The most recent one that my friend bought for me - Five get Gran online - only got a few mild chuckles from me at the start and then it was just a slog to finish it.

It amazes me that so many of these titles were published when, from the first one, it was painfully clear that Bruno Vincent's prosaic, plodding, laboured style simply wasn't suited to that kind of book.

I have never read any of them and have no intention of doing so. I picked up Five on Brexit Island in a bookshop once and read a random page or two. It didn’t interest me at all. I’ll save my cash for the real thing.

The only book(s) I bought were from charity shops, so if after reading them I feel they are utter rubbish, at least I won't feel 'robbed' - I'll just count the money as a donation.
