A wonderful book. The cave contains lovely illustrations from it.

I have Two Years in the Infant School but unfortunately mine has pages missing and I don't have the illustrations as they were brought out separately as poster-sized coloured plates to be hung on the classroom wall. They're delightful and it's brilliant to be able to see them in the Cave.

'Uncle Harry's Aeroplane' is a simple story but exciting for youngsters. I was over the moon as a child when my uncle gave me a ride on his motorbike but a stunt plane would have been extra thrilling even in the 1970s when I was young, let alone in the 1930s when the story was first published.

Have to admit I can't stand them — too 1960s-cartoony. They look like they should be in The Jetsons. But that's just me.

I really LOVE the illustration showing the tall tower. Great perspective - and its also very effective at showing how tall it is.

Its the '1960's' flavour to the illustrations that I like. However, I'm not saying I like them better than Eileen Soper etc - they are just different and I can appreciate them on their own merit.

If you've got Journal 59 (Spring 2016), it contains 'An Unexpected Adventure' with the Desmond E. Walduck illustrations, Pete. A good story which reminds me of Secret Seven Adventure in some respects.
