A lovely story and illustration - I'm beginning to think I prefer Enid's shorter, younger tales than her series for older children. Although I still enjoy those too.

Thanks for sharing it.

I'm afraid that it isn't a very good scan, but sadly I can't find my copy to do a better one!

Who is the illustrator for those stories Rob? The last one in particular looks very like an Eileen Soper picture of Anne Kirrin from one of the books though I can't remember which one at present.

Anne running from the "volcano" in Camp I think. A rather younger Anne though.

Thanks Pete. That second one of Anne running from Wooden-Leg Sam is the one I was thinking of.

As you can tell - yes - Tiny Tales is illustrated by Eileen Soper - 31 of them!

Just been looking at these two volumes in the cave and wondering what the story Elsie's Adventure is like...
They do look interesting, Pete, and gloriously chunky.

Here's two books I hadn't come across before from the cave.Published quite late in Enid's career too,1962.
Not quite sure why only Monday & Tuesday were published?

The illustrator named is Dorothy Hall who if memory serves me correctly illustrated the cover of The Secret Of Moon Castle and many other books too including 1964's The Enid Blyton Storybook for Fives to Sevens, which includes stories from both of the above titles.

I have the Story Book for Fives to Sevens (surely one of the worst titles of any EB book!) but for some reason the Monday and Tuesday books are very expensive and hard to come by. They sell on eBay but not cheaply!

Dorothy Hall is the artist Anita mentions in her excellent article in the latest Journal - and the top contender for all those uncredited illustrations in the Dean versions of Happy House, Adventurous Four and Galliano's Circus etc. :-)

Wednesday and Thursday were both compiled by Enid and sent to the publishers, I have lists of the stories that were going in them. I guess the first two books didn't sell that well and the publishers decided to draw a line under the rest of the series. They are strange little books with soft cloth covers over card and for some reason it is much easier to find copies of Monday than Tuesday.
