Well, I just discovered the illustrator Leonardo in the cave for the first time today.
He seems to have re-illustrated a lot of the Mary Pollock books in the mid 1950's with a very similar cover to the one that preceded his.

I don't know if he illustrated any other Blyton's apart from the Mary Pollock books that became Blyton's?

The style of the Leonardo cover looked familiar to me from those of some Blyton hardbacks which I read in the mid-1960s, Pete. I've checked those which I remember in the Cave, and the third edition of 'Three Boys and a Circus', dated 1955, also has a wrap-around Leonardo cover. Given the dates, I assume that Leonardo was given a group of Enid's one-off books on similar topics to illustrate in the mid-1950s, in the same way that Armada used Mary Gernat for PB covers of books about holiday adventures/ horses/ farms in the mid-1960s; I wonder if he was a regular 'go-to' artist for the publisher in question .

It looks as if ?George has downed the contents of the bottle. She looks half-cut. Or is it Wonder Woman?

I'll definitely keep an eye out for the two new compilation releases this year, but will probably give the Message in a Bottle a miss.

Unless it receives rave reviews on here, and then I might reconsider. ;)

This excerpt from Ring O' Bells interested me as it contains two illustrations I have never seen before.
The cave (see link above) includes the illustrations from the book and Sunny Stories, but not these two pics:

Have You? - Enid Blyton - I have - Maud Dyrenfurth

From the cave:
Here is Enid's poem Have You? -

I'm trying to find Maud Dyrenfurth's reply to Enid, I Have in print. Has anyone ever seen it?
Is it printed somewhere?

Yes, if anyone can point me towards Maud Dyrenfurth's reply to Enid's poem I would be most grateful.

Maud Dyrenfurth’s poem “I Have” is in the appendices to Barbara Stoney’s biography. I’ve got a first edition, I don’t know if it was in later reprints.

Well, I have just received a lovely surprise email which contained the poem I have been searching for.
I won't embarrass the kind gentleman who sent it, and will give him a nom de plume instead.
So many thanks indeed to you once again Mr. Bony Winterfield! :D

Have you read the poem that was inspired by Enid's before?
I don't think I have. See what you think:

I have - Maud Dyrenfurth

Enid must have a had a wonderful surprise after her March 1917 poem was published to read the response from Maud Dyrenfurth in the June 1917 edition of the magazine!

Many thanks for your reply Kate Mary too. I couldn't find the poem in my 2006 electronic version of the biography. I must find and check my paperback copy to see if it is in that.
