Are you suggesting I'm small, Moonraker!

Hmm, I'm not a big fan of that cover. I will get it anyway as the other two annuals have fantastic content.

I got my new Famous Five Annual this morning along with some other new publications. I have only skimmed through it so far, but it looks really nice, I think it is the best yet. I hope others are in agreement when it hits the shops in a month or so.

If you're hoping to make us jealous and wish we could see it too, you just succeeded! Sounds like a good book to buy - such a shame it might be the last one.Tony Summerfield wrote:I got my new Famous Five Annual this morning along with some other new publications. Well at least you can pop over to Tony's, and see this book too, Nigel. We can't!
I bet Tony is really pleased I live miles and miles away!

Just got the 2014 and 2015 FF Annuals a month ago and they are absolutely gorgeous.Tony Summerfield wrote:I got my new Famous Five Annual this morning along with some other new publications. Meanwhile I read them both.
IMHO they are even better than the old FF Annuals, although I like them as well (got five of the old ones, the 1997 annual about the new FF TV series was very good!).
But I missed Soper's illustrations in the old annuals. I wonder why they didn't contain any?
Will order the 2016 FF Annual next year. And I desperately hope there will be a 2017 FF annual...

Re: Famous Five Annual 2016
The aim was to present the Five as "contemporary" so Eileen Soper's illustrations would have been regarded as old-fashioned.Chrissie777 wrote:I missed Soper's illustrations in the old annuals. I wonder why they didn't contain any?

Re: Famous Five Annual 2016
And it worked! It was ages before I actually realised The Famous Five weren't contemporary - probably aided by the fact I had only ever seen the Maxey illustrations and the annuals as a child. When I did borrow one of my sister's paperback versions that contained Soper's illustrations, I thought she was the interloper!

Just a quick reminder of the earlier cover compared to the one eventually chosen.

Re: Famous Five Annual 2016
I'm still not keen on the cover but if the content is as interesting as the previous two annuals it will be a cracker.

I'll certainly buy it when it comes out. Asda usually has them in, so I'll pick up a copy from there.
