I too have loved reading these new annuals of the F.F.

I never bought any of the annuals based on the TV series. I have seen plenty for sale on Ebay, and I did love watching the 70's TV series, but the annuals have never really interested me to the extent of buying one.

Its amazing so few people seem to like the 1970s annuals. I guess it has a lot to do with them being modern versions rather than the traditional illustrations etc and so people are put off. As I grew up in the 70s and owned a couple of these as a child they are quite special to me. I've now bought them all, and they are in mostly fine condition for very cheap prices. They are actually much better value for money than the modern annuals as they have about 30 more pages, as most annuals did back then! :-)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Another good thing about the Purnell Famous Five Annuals of the 1970s-80s is that the strips, articles and puzzles were put together specially for the annuals and not gathered from elsewhere.

Getting back on topic, the 2016 Famous Five Annual contains more specially-written material than the 2014 and 2015 annuals.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Well, Nigel, if I would order 3 or 4 times a year at amazon.co.uk, I end up paying more for shipping. I rather save the money and order more instead :).

Oh, the p&p isn't much, and I think it is free if you spend over £10 - or it might be £20 now.

But if you're in the US and order from amazon.uk you don't get free super saver delivery, you'll get some form of expensive international shipping.

But from which other amazon could I order the 2016 Annual instead? I doubt, amazon.com offers it.

They do have it on Amazon.com, Chrissie: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/ ... ef=olp_fsf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All of these have a shipping cost, since it's coming from the UK, but as Fiona says, Amazon.co.uk wouldn't offer free delivery to the US either.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I understood Fiona's point and was not expecting free shipping to the UK to the US. However, I tried to explain that if I only order once a year from amazon.co.uk and they put 2 or 3 DVD's in ONE package or 2 or 3 books in ONE package, I save a lot of shipping costs vs. ordering 9 or 10 times spread out through/over one year paying shipping costs for each single item which adds up.
Sorry, I cannot explain it any better.

Wow! I had no clue that amazon.com offers the 2016 FF Annual, so I will delete it in my co.uk basket now and add it to my amazon.com basket. Thank you :)!

That's what I was trying to say for Nigel's benefit, Chrissie. If I were to shop from amazon.co.uk I could make use of the free shipping, but being in the US you can't. So it makes sense for you to make one large order instead of several small ones.

It's also more expensive living in US and buying stuff from Amazon UK. It works out better the other way around. I've seen DVD's sold on Amazon UK for £18.00 which on Amazon US are only $18.00 (about £11.00) :-) Also, their postage (for DVD's, which I buy a lot of from USA) is only around £2.50.

Thank you, Fiona and Robert. 8)
From now on I will check my particular British items (DVD's and books) first in amazon.com and THEN in amazon.co.uk, in case amazon.com doesn't have them.
Some British private sellers post their stuff also at amazon.com (not just amazon.co.uk), but send them from the UK. However, I've noticed that the shipping costs from the UK via amazon.co.uk are even less expensive than the shipping costs from Germany via amazon.de. :D

The discussion on DVD players has been moved to a new topic which can be found here:
