Thanks Moonraker - do you know which ones?

Not without Googling or searching in the Cave. Happy hunting!

Re: Collectors- just old books or new ones too?
Today I saw a Secret Seven book (a 1960 edition with dustwrapper) for £4. As I
don't read them I didn't buy it but I always wonder if it's worth buying it to sell
at our next meeting (wherever that might be). Mind you I could end up with
plenty of unwanted books if I did that every time I saw an old Enid Blyton book!

This doesn't add much to the discussion, but I thought I would report that I have just completed my collection of Find-Outers Methuen editions plus dust-wrappers with a first edition of Banshee Towers. My wife ordered it from New Zealand for my birthday and it arrived within three days! Although I still love rummaging around second-hand bookshops, I have to admit that AbeBooks does make it a lot easier to track down missing books in a series. The fifteen books are now displayed front-ways on in a glass bookcase in our hall - I look at them fondly every time I go past!

Sounds lovely Sir Terence. Its always a good feeling when you complete a collection of something and can display the lot.

Brilliant, Sir Terence. You must be delighted! I also have a complete set of the Methuen Find-Outers books, but alas the dust-wrapper on The Mystery of Banshee Towers is a photo-copy. I have found it extremely difficult to get a copy of this title with its original dust-wrapper at a reasonable price.

My copy of this book is a first edition and it's dust cover is original and in mint condition, Eddie. The book itself has hardly been read!Eddie Muir wrote: I also have a complete set of the Methuen Find-Outers books, but alas the dust-wrapper on The Mystery of Banshee Towers is a photo-copy. Re: Collectors- just old books or new ones too?
Ugh, sour grapes here! I've been trying to get a copy for absolutely ages! I'm not even after a dustjacket, just a Methuen hardback. I was watching one on eBay this weekend, Shadow tipped me off about it - there were four books in the lot, 3 of which I already had but they started at just under £10. Unfortunately I wasn't able to bid when it was finishing as I ended up at the hospital with a sick relative, but in the end they went for about £40, which is a real bargain for four early FFOs.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

You're very lucky to have it and I'm rather envious, Julie. Did it cost you an arm and a leg?Julie2owlsdene wrote:My copy of this book is a first edition and it's dust cover is original and in mint condition, Eddie. The book itself has hardly been read!
Good luck with your search for a copy of Banshee Towers, Fiona. If I see or hear of a copy, I'll let you know.

My book was £38. including P&P Eddie back in July 2005. I still have the receipt inside the book. Hope the link works so you can see it. The jacket is protected with a see through cover, hence the glare on the photo.

Re: Collectors- just old books or new ones too?
You're most welcome, Fiona.
Thank you for the link, Julie. £38 was a bargain price for a near mint copy of Banshee Towers with a dust-wrapper, even in 2005.
There is currently a copy for sale on the Amazon website in good condition for £60.00 plus £2.80 postage:

Lovely book Julie thank you for posting a pic.
Does anyone know why the Find Outers books (including the paperbacks)had such a variety of illustrators at all?
