To have 'toilet seats' in a theatre or cinema would be a good thing. Anything to avoid struggling to the loo, mid-performance, is to be recommended by me.

I saw a hardback book combining the 'Mountain of Adventure' and the 'Castle of Adventure' on Monday (published in the 1980s - I think ) with interesting illustrations - but I can't remember who the illustrator was! I wish I had written down the details.

I know you have FF series in German and English, Wolfgang. I am curious, why you bought them in French? :D

Finally, you've bought the book, Katharine. Enjoy your reading. :)

Pete, I paid just under £10, and that included postage. I've been looking out for this book for probably about 2 years now, and it's normally listed for about £20 - £35, so I feel reasonably happy with that price. Obviously the scrooge in me would have preferred to get it for £2.50  I didn't check whether it's paperback or hardback, I've a feeling for that price it would be paperback. I hope the paperbacks weren't abridged?

Not abridged, but you might need special glasses to read them.

As far as I know there are only 2 editions; the hardcover and the large printing edition.

Now I have a dilemma. Do I spend my meagre pocket money on this book, which doesn't leave me much for anything else, or do I let someone buy it for me for my birthday in a couple of weeks. I would say the latter, but what if I don't like the book? :?

I would say the latter too, Katharine. Then, if you don't like the book you will still have your pocket money. If you do like the book, that's a bonus! :D

Tell your children that you need a rise in your pocket money, Katharine. After all the price of sweets
keeps rising.

Bought "The Mountain of Adventure" and "Fifth Formers at St Clares" this morning @ 79p each from Oxfam. A pre-decimal edition and a 1971 edition. Neither in great shape though; had to do a bit of restoration so they are 'reading copies' only.

Just to see the differences. And maybe I'll get a complete new view on the books.
