The Adventurous Four Series
Re: The Adventurous Four
A good review on what seems to have been a good half-a-crown's worth of paperback!

Re: The Adventurous Four
Yes; good review that. Well spotted for the likeness of a scene to one in Five On A Treasure Island. Funny; I had never noticed that was 1942 too. It always feels a few years later to me; whereas The Adventurous Four are very much rooted in the wartime setting. Surprised me.

Yes, Poppy's review is very good and anyone who hasn't read this book and the follow-up, I recommend that you do.

Great review, Poppy. This book and the 'Again' follow-up are well worth looking for in early hardback condition. I often see them on my travels and they are not usually expensive.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sure one of my copies will turn up sooner or later - probably when I'm looking for something else!Poppy wrote:I've got about five Dean copies lying about, just in case you have 'permanently misplaced' it.

Re: The Adventurous Four
I have just finnished The Adventurous Four Again by Enid Blyton. I think I enjoyed the first book more, because of the originality of the whole idea, but it was still a very enjoyable and exciting read! I reviewed it here on my Blog.

Where Are They Now?
Looking back to the beginning of this thread, made me wonder what had happened to our friends from years ago who post no longer.

Indeed Nigel. So many have dropped away over the years. I just hope they all are OK.

Re: The Adventurous Four
After reading Poppy's blog and review of these books, I have just read both of them again for the first time in ages. The last sentence in the second book says; "After all, they are the Adventurous Four, and there may be plenty more adventures waiting for them yet!" Sadly, that wasn't to be but did Enid intend to carry on as she implied with that sentence? I suppose that Andy being tied to one location didn't give her much scope to write more stories as, apart from the islands, there wasn't really any other place for an adventure. They're great books though, especially the first one, what a pity there aren't any more.
