Wonderful items, especially the 21st Birthday newspaper. I wonder if Elizabeth ever read any Blyton? I don't imagine she'd have been an ardent fan but a poem or story perhaps?

Very interesting story. I always felt that Enid was very upper class. I remember as a child, I felt Enid Blyton was similar to the Queen.

That EB magazine entry is a great find Pete, I don't know how to download picture from the cave so perhaps you could download the book 'Story of Our Queen'

I've just spent about half an hour scanning my bookshelves and eventually managed to track down my copy of that book. I will probably try and read it on the 19th.

Wow, the poem penned by Enid for Elizabeth's 21st birthday is lovely!

It's nice to be reminded of the other things too. I have a copy of The Story of Our Queen, which is beautifully written and exquisitely illustrated, and it was good to see Tony using a picture from it for the editorial in Journal 78. I was aware that Enid had written a booklet about the young Charles and Anne, though I've never seen it.

I bought a copy of The Story of Our Queen on Friday so hopefully I will have it soon.

"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.
