Thank you Mrs. Blyton

Post by don massimo »

I have spent a month in Italy, where I hoped to be able to enter my name as a member of the Society, but I couldn't. Coming back to Sri Lanka however I had the fortune to find further books of Mrs. Blyton's I had not read yet in an orphanage of our sisters'. Oh, the happiness to find again my friends Darrel, Alicia and Mary-Lou! Thank you Mrs. Blyton! I love English people so much, and I feel that, in spite of the frozen air of vice that blows there like in Italy on account of a bad politics and a bad high class, so long as your works are read and widespread a sunny wind from paradise also blows there and protects so many people from ruin. I wish I had such a weight of heavenly wealth to put on the right scale of my balance to contrast the weight of the wrong scale, so much heavier than yours! But sharing in your heavenly inspiration I hope that once I can share also heavenly life with you and all people you have helped to overcome the frozen wind of hellish vice. Thank you very dear Mrs. Blyton!

Don,what a lovely letter.I'm sure you would have received a beautiful reply from Enid, had she been able to read your appreciative comments.

You may be interested to read a letter of thanks she wrote back in 1948 which is currently for sale.
