I watched the 90s version of Adventuring the other day and found the lack of snow to be a real issue as being snowed-in was an integral part of the plot and atmosphere.
I can't imagine how you could do on-screen version of something like the 'Rat-a-Tat Mystery' without that kind of weather.
Growing up in the driest state in the driest continent, as a child who had never seen snow I would have felt cheated by a film of 'Adventuring' or 'Rat-a-tat' that left out the snow. The wonderful 'wrap-around' picture on the jacket of the 1956 first edition of 'Rat-a-Tat' is still one of my most favourite dust-jackets, and I may have seen a million jackets in my time.
Which FF books would be the most suitable for a film?
This is another Famous Five book that could be a great film in the right hands.
It has tension, adventure and a large dose of Julian Kirrin pathos:
He grinned at Julian.
"Now what are you going to do?" he said.
"Shall I tell you?" said Julian, his temper suddenly rising. "I'm going to hurl this nice juicy meat-pie straight into your grinning face!"
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.
