Off to Burnham Beeches
Off to Burnham Beeches
Lovers of the Peterswood district might be interested to watch Countryfile tonight (BBC1 6.30pm). Julia Bradbury goes to Burnham Beeches in the hunt for giant wood ants! At least that's one location we don't need to speculate about.

Re: Off to Burnham Beeches
Thanks for the information, Nigel. I shall make a point of watching it or recording it this evening.

Thanks, Nigel. In her editorial letters in Enid Blyton's Magazine, Enid talks about the youngsters from the children's home in Beaconsfield (for which her Famous Five Club raised money) being taken on outings to Burnham Beeches.

Re: Off to Burnham Beeches
Sorry I missed this one, especially to see Burnham Beeches, not the giant ants though!

I saw it, and must admit the part of the woods we were shown did not make me feel I should pack a picnic hamper and dash off there for a visit!

My feeling too, Daisy. If you haven't watched the programme, you haven't really missed much. The few minutes devoted to Burnham Beeches were near the end of the programme and they concentrated on the wood ants in the area.

You've both taken the words out of my mouth! Grovely Woods, near Salisbury, are much nicer. We've just spent a few hours there, getting lost amongst the bluebells.
