Just supposing.... that a proper period production was made of the Famous Five... what sort of music do you think would be most appropriate for the theme music?
Something from Children's Hour, or a fairground organ, or a song... Something jolly, or wistfully nostagic, what would seem Right to you?

Re: Music for Famous Five
Good question Viv.
I don't think most of the Children's Hour music would work, they never seemed to me to be the type to sit and listen to songs like The Teddy Bear's Picnic or Puff The Magic Dragon for example. I can't see them being into Rock 'n Roll either, or The Beatles.
Some nostalgic music from the 40's or 50's would work probably best. I can't think of anything in particular though.
Maybe it's time for some Famous Five Desert Island Discs...

I went on some great adventures reading the Famous Five books.

Re: Music for Famous Five
Although associated with the 'Comic Strip Presents' Famous Five parodies (which I daresay are not generally popular with Blytonians!), this music does seem fitting to 50s stories:

What about this for the opening theme...
Holst the Planets -Jupiter

Seems to strike the right contrast between bombast and jollity-just like The Famous Five!
