On tomorrow's edition of Countryfile, (BBC1, 6.25pm) the literary landscape of the Vale of Aylesbury is explored. The programme states that this setting has inspired Enid Blyton in her writing.

I watched the first half of the programme and then had to go out, all I heard was Enid Blyton's name mentioned. From Julie's comment I'm guessing I didn't miss much?

I saw the first half of the programme but then reluctantly allowed my daughter to switch channels to watch The Cube! I watch Countryfile occasionally just to listen to John Craven's voice, which takes me back to the days of John Craven's Newsround. I'm disappointed that I once spent a day at Chalfont St. Giles without realising that Milton lived there for a while and that the cottage he lived in still exists. Though I did enjoy my day there - it was a Noddy Day back in 2003 and we spent an hour or so sitting listening to Gillian Baverstock talking about her mother's work and telling stories of Amelia Jane. I think there was going to be something about Roald Dahl in the second half of Countryfile. Was that bit worth seeing? If so, I might try to watch the rest online.

Ah yes, Newsround with John Craven - fond memories.

The Cube - obviously my son didn't realise that was on or he'd have been nagging me to switch channels.

I might try and catch the Roald Dahl bit as we visited the museum last year. Also my friend lives just outside the village where he lived so it's always nice to see something of the area she lives in.

Anita - you went to a Noddy Day? I thought you didn't like the little nodding man?

I knew Gillian Baverstock was going to be at the Noddy Day, and there were also activities based around the Famous Five. Viv was there as well. The event was held at a heritage centre (Chiltern Open Air Museum) so there were old buildings to look at, woods to walk through, animals and a play area. My children were 3 and 8 at the time and they really enjoyed the day. My daughter entered a competition (writing a Noddy story!!) and won a prize of 7 Centenary Famous Five paperbacks signed by Gillian.

Naturally! I remember that my son loved shaking hands with the giant Noddy, Big Ears and Mr. Plod characters.

Entrants had to take the story sheet home, write the story on it and post it off by a certain date so I don't think we got to keep a copy.
