Blyton Question on Only Connect

Post by Fiona1986 »

There has just been a Blyton question on Only Connect! (BBC3)

None of the team have read the FF series but they got the Q right after two clues. The a member of the opposite team said "There's a lot about Enid Blyton books that worry me, Noddy is the cruellest series of books I have ever come across". How odd!

It will probably be on the I-player later tonight or tomorrow if anyone wants to see it, it's in the first round, and I think it was the third question.
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I find a lot of the Noddy stories long-winded and insipid but I can't understand anyone calling them cruel!

Yes, I thought that was a bit strong. Not sure just what 'cruelty' he has seen in them. Perhaps Bumpy-Dog was forced to sleep outside in a kennel? I don't know really as I can't say I've read many Noddy books myself.

I seem to remember that Noddy slept with Tessie Bear one night, as his bed was broken. She got a splinter off him.
