Noddy returns to TV

Post by Lucky Star »

According to The Daily Telegraph channel 5 is to air a new series of Noddy programmes. Its interesting that they wish to return to Enid Blyton's original vision but have left out Big Ears and given the little fellow some radical new modes of transport.

I've never really read or watched Noddy, so I don't have a nostalga factor here.
I'm glad that he is still around though, and if the TV people want to jazz it up with a monstor truck and a robot friend so be it (I'm sure Blyton would have written those in if she lived today) but for heavens sake DON'T cut out characters like Big Ears and DEFINITELY DONT claim to be interested in returning to the original version when you clearly aren't!
Why don't they just say 'We are bringing back Noddy, but he is a 21st century Noddy'??
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Noddy has been nothing to do with Enid Blyton for years now, so perhaps it won't matter that he has a monster truck and a submarine! Its just a way to cash in on famous characters, but at least he lives on, I guess, like him or loathe him! 8)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

(E. Blyton, Sunday Times, 1951)
