Hi Lucky Star
the Art Director from Carnival did say last week that she and a few others were going to try and make it to the EB day so maybe you will get to hear a lot more detail then. I can't come this year as I'm up in Northumberland :(

I don't know anything about this at all! I didn't even know that Carnival had an Art Director, are you sure that she isn't from the BBC, they seem to be looking after all the props etc.

I thought they'd taken "intrigue" out of the dictionary......

This is a Green Knight Book which means that it is a book by one of the most popular authors of all.

The art director on the film is working for Carnival not the BBC but from our conversations this week I'm sure that she is completely unaware of any agreed block on information pending a company press release.
Not wishing to cause her or anyone any grief I will not comment any further. By all means delete messages if you need to

Fascinating stuff! Everything is pretty complicated these days. It wasn't that long ago when the tv company (BBC or say, Yorkshire Television) made the programme, then transmitted it to the network. Nowadays, Granada make programmes for the BBC as well as independent companies making programmes for a multitude of channels. What a minefield.

As an old Doctor Who fan I used to love reading about how the early episodes with William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton were literally thrown together on a cheap studio set (you can actually hear the echoing pitter-patter of running feet on the stage, even though it's often supposed to be "outside"). Episodes were filmed and transmitted during the same week! The mind boggles at how haphazard it all was back then.

I've read about episodes (not just Doctor Who) that were only partially made, and rather than delay broadcast they would air the finished bit and seamlessly cut to LIVE action and get that bit out of the way, then cut back to the finished bits again. Now that's pressure!

Now they have a year to write the thing, get funding, cast it, find locations, etc, then a few months to film it, and another few months to edit and iron out kinks, then even more time to find a decent spot in the broadcasting schedule...

They don't make 'em like they used to (...which I'm thankful for).

According to a very small paragraph in todays Daily Telegraph newspaper Helena Bonham-Carter is to play Enid Blyton in this production which will be shown on BBC4 later this year. Its very exciting news. Hopefully with a fairly big name actress playing Enid the film will be a high quality one which will do justice to our favourite author. :D

I always liked Helena Bonham Carter in the E. M. Forster films so it'll be interesting to see how she plays Enid.

I'm really looking forward to watching and recording this production. I hope we will be given ample warning when its to be broadcast. I'd hate to miss it.
