Whispering Island (called Treasure Island in Radio Times) is featured in the first programme of a new series of Autumnwatch (BBC2 8pm tonight). It includes the story of previous owner, Mary Bonham-Christie, who lived as a reclude on the island, for 40 years not allowing any access.
The first ever scout camp was set up on the island in 1907 by Robert Baden-Powell.
Now owned by the NT, it is still a haven for wildlife. I wonder if they will mention the statues?

Yours Truly has sent the NT copies of The Nature Lover's Book and Animal Book to give some Blyton background!

Excellent. One to watch.

Must try and remember to watch this one. I'd love to visit this island, but they won't allow dogs, its a pity the minority of dogs owners have to spoil it for the majority. As I'm sure most dogs like our Morgan and Barney would be as good as gold.

The Autumn Watch last week was very good. Lovely to see Brownsea Island, (even though they don't allow dogs!)

I could do without the deer rutting. Why are nature programme makers obsessed with mation?
