Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Hello,
I just found another location. It's from the episode "Five get into trouble" from the 78 series. I always wondered where the scene with the opening gate ("Owl's dene") was shot and I found it, more by accident, on Streetview. (Thanks Google).
It is in Lymington on the Shotts Lane. The actual scenes of the building "Owl's Dene" were of course shot at Exbury House, but the gate scenes on this location.
Check out this Streetview link:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.76391 ... 0k9FBw!2e0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The little house near the entrance, everything is the same as in the series.

Didn't know the gates were your avatar, Julie. Now they got real...
Re: Gates
It is funny how in Plenty of Fun, locked gates were no problem to Dick(?), who scaled them with ease. From Eileen's illustration, they were no more easy to climb than Owl's Dene's.

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Hi Julie and Fiona,
I still enjoy looking at both of your avatars (I also like the avatars by Francis and Pete as I'm a big Errol Flynn fan).
When I joined EBS a few years ago and was trying to come up with my own avatar, I felt torn between a FF motif and an Adventure series motif. So I finally decided for the one Soper illustration that I had printed on a white T-shirt several decades ago when I still lived in Hamburg, Germany. A new print shop opened next to my work place and offered to print any motif on your blank T-shirt.
They had to blow up the Soper illustrations several times before it was large enough for the T-shirt. I did wear it often on trips to other European countries and expected that I would get to hear any remarks by other FF fans, but nobody ever noticed it.
With my EBS avatar it was the opposite: André had downsize it and downsize it again, before it had the right size and got accepted by EBS.
We spent such a long time trying to get the size right that I won't change my avatar again!

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
I had my avatar printed on a canvas bag especially for the first year that I went to an Enid Blyton Day. Keith took a pic of it. I think it was 2008?

It is dead easy to resize - avatars need to be 100x100 pixels. Any photo can be resized by opening it in a program such as Microsoft Picture Manager, clicking on edit>resize, then reduce accordingly.Chrissie777 wrote: We spent such a long time trying to get the size right that I won't change my avatar again!

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Well, Nigel, it was not me who had to downsize my avatar, it was my husband who actually deals a lot with computer programs in his job, but obviously he never had that problem before and did not know about Microsoft Picture Manager. He finally found some other way to downsize it, but I felt so bad, because it took such a long time (the entire evening) and several attempts which were still too large to be accepted.Moonraker wrote: It is dead easy to resize - avatars need to be 100x100 pixels. No my hubby did it for me, Chrissie, and I ironed on the picture.
Look at the photos of the Enid Blyton Day 2008 and you will see it, situated under the heading of Familiar Faces. I'm stood next to Pippa Stef.

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Julie, I would love to see the pics, but as usual the advanced search cannot find "Enid Blyton Day 2008" for me.
