Nice photos, Jon! I've been to Exbury House but not to the other locations.

Nice pictures - you can see a lot of detail in ones this size. The final pic on p. 216 of this thread, ie the Lepe Beach one (Lepe Beach East, looking East to Cowes which is in the distance to the right), shows the new award-winning timber cafe on the left beyond the road; the pine trees on the cliff behind hide the car-park where the production team parked during beach/ cliff scenes filming. The fake 'Kirrin Island castle' set was probably put up in the car park just behind the trees, and the clifftop scene with Julian and Dick arguing with Yan in 'Go Down To The Sea' was filmed a little way further along the cliff out of sight.
in the pic of Lepe Beach looking West from the bridge to the Watch House (aka Mr Curton's holiday home in 'Kirren Island', episode 1, the beach scenes were filmed on the far, Western, side of the Watch House. The scenes of the Five running up the cliff path and on the clifftop were also beyond the WH, and in this pic you can see the road which runs along the clifftop about 20-30 yards inland. The 'picnic with Uncle Quentin and Aunt Fanny on Kirrin Island' was probably filmed on the grass at the clifftop. The scene in Go Down To The Sea of the Five cycling along a lane in view of the sea on their way to 'Tremannon Farm, Cornwall' and then stopping to look down at the sea was filmed on an open bit of road a little further West, beyond Lepe House - though the 'cove' which they are shown looking at seconds later is in fact Dancing Ledge in Dorset.

Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Thanks Anita they are well worth a visit if you get the chance , when these pics were taken it was between the 2 lockdowns a strange time for us all, though great to see the FF locations. Out of interest Lepe is just down the road from Exbury, will try and go back at some point.Anita Bensoussane wrote: ↑22 Jul 2023, 08:03 Nice photos, Jon! Re: TV locations for the Famous Five series
Thank you Timv, actually rewatched the 'Kirrin Island' Episode recently and the Lepe locations are very clear to see. I did walk up to the Watch House also close to the lighthouse and the house on cliff top that doubled for Red Towers in FFIA. I also noticed on 'KI' episode that when Timmy goes back into tunnel to get the villain out you see the shot of daylight before they both come back out, this looks exactly the same from 'Smugglers Top' where the 5 go through the secret passageway and down to the marshes.timv wrote: ↑22 Jul 2023, 08:19 Nice pictures - you can see a lot of detail in ones this size.
