Story Search - Roly Poly Man + House
Dear All,
I'm a brand new member and I do hope so much someone will be able to help me find this short (?) story. I'm pretty positive it was an Enid Blyton story. I read it as a child + re-read it so often the binding broke at that section of the book. It is about a roly poly man who lives in the woods in a completely round / spherical house and when he decides to move all the bits of the house that stick out - like stairs + chimney etc can be popped / folded in so that the house can roll to another location. I can't remember much more than that but I would love to be able to read it to my child (soon to be children).
Thank you for reading my request.
Suzanne

Welcome, Suzanne. I think the story you're looking for is 'The Little Roundy Man'. It can be found in Once Upon a Time Stories (Collins) and other collections too - click on the link below:

Thank you so much Anita, that does sound familiar - both the title of the story and the book.
You are a genius.
Thanks again

Just call me Fatty! I love the short stories and had a large collection of the Purnell, Deans and Collins hardbacks as a child,as well as a few Dragon paperbacks and Bedtime Annuals. I've still got them, in fact!Suzanne wrote:You are a genius.

I'm afraid she's not Dame Slap anymore. At least not according to the TV series, I can't remember what she's called off hand, but I know she punishes the children with a Big Pink Tickling Feather (or something similar).Anita Bensoussane wrote:*Dons bonnet and petticoats, and fetches moderator stick!*Moonraker wrote:I wouldn't dream of calling Anita, Fatty! Dame SNAP now scolds children, instead of slapping them.

Dame Slap has become Dame Snap in current editions of the Faraway Tree books, but in the 1990s BBC cartoon series ("Enid Blyton's Enchanted Lands") she was Dame Tickle. Perhaps she's fond of a bit of slap and tickle!Ming wrote:Dame SNAP now scolds children, instead of slapping them.
