Thanks Anjalli. Really I think it should be you, as I didn’t remember it from Smugglers Top! I have one ready though; I almost posted it at the same time as Bernie’s last one.

Who spoke these words of wisdom and in which book?

“The stalactites have to hold on tight to the roof, and the stalagmites might some day join up with them”

Strangely enough, it's that quotation that always helped me remember which is which. It was Jack in The Valley of Adventure.

Same here, John. It wasn’t that book though.

Julian also says something like that in Billycock Hill.

Enid must have used the same quote in two books then, although having just looked, it was worded slightly different in 'Valley'. I thought you had maybe modified it slightly to exclude Jack's name, as that's where I remembered it from.

I think you should set the next one, Boatbuilder, as Valley would have been written before Billycock Hill so it was you who named the first time it appeared.

You’re correct, Bertie - I remembered the quote from Billycock Hill, although I thought it was Anne who said it. I didn’t know it was also included in Valley of Adventure!

Over to you, John.

Thanks, Morgan.

Which book and who is being talked about?

"I don't really know," said Dick, "I like lots of things about him, but suddenly I don't like him at all."

Next quote:

'He looks nice, but a bit simple. I shouldn't think he could say boo to a goose.' Bets felt certain she couldn't either, because geese were big and hissy.

Oooh, I'll hazard a guess... is it The Mystery of the Disappearing Cat? :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Thanks, Bertie. I haven't forgotten it's my turn now! Here's the next quote...
She had a big clean handkerchief in her pocket, and she took this out. "I'll tie up your hand for you," she said. "I say — what an AWFUL cut! I should howl like anything if I did that to myself."
