Bat, Bowl and Field are words used in cricket.
The fourth could be Officiate, which is done by the umpires, or possibly Short as in Short Ball, Short Leg. Maybe.
Or are they all red herrings?

That's it, Barnard. Well worked out.
Yes, officiate is the fourth. I could have put the more specific umpire / umpiring, but thought that was too obvious. So yeah, they're all the four main Cricket roles - bat, bowl, field, officiate.

Dove. Short. Faith.
Change. Cross. Lee
Bur. Peace. Crew.
Under. Sabbath. Pool.

Short, Cross, Crew and Under can all precede Cut.

Very good.
Bowl was also a red herring for that but you've solved that group already.

Sorry, I meant to give a clue earlier today but I'm having quite a few hectic days of late.

One connection is put something before or after each clue, in this case it's the same two words each time.

The other group is add / remove / change a letter to form a connection.

Is one of them keep the - keep the faith, keep the change, keep the peace and keep the Sabbath?
If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy

Great work. :D
Yes, that's spot on.

Which just leaves the change / add / remove a letter group of: Dove. Lee. Bur. Pool.

Hopefully it's a help to say that both Crew and Bat were red herrings for it as well.

Add a letter to make a town - Dover, Lees, Bury, Poole?

The red herrings would have been Crewe and Bath.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."

Yes, that's it. Well worked out, Anita.

I was thinking of Leek, but Lees works just as well.

Bath is obviously a city unlike the others, but as it was only a red herring then that doesn't matter. :)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Very good.

Remaining clues:

Terminal. Dollar.
Shorts. Circle.
Grass. Ladykillers.
Triangle. Post.

Of the final two groups, one is entertainment based; the other connection is an add the same thing before or after each clue.
