Re: Word Games
I'm not sure what the font being used as the default in the posting part of the board is, Dave. It's certainly not Times New Roman. I would have to delve into the files on the server to find out. Here is an image I have taken from my reply in that post. It's a little smaller on here than it actually appears in the forum as I had to resize the image down to be able to post it on here.

C TO BE OR NOT TO BE C
Looks like nobody guessed this one despite Ilsa's comment which came close.
The answer is SEE BOTH SIDES OF THE QUESTION.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

OK, try this one. It will either bamboozle you, or not.

Oh well, 10 minutes that one lasted!
And now - which is the odd one out, and why?
ALBANIAN; ANDORRAN; AUSTRIAN; BELGIAN; SWISS.

Re: Word Games
Swiss, because it's the only one that doesn't end with N.
(I'm sure that's far too easy for it to be the "real" answer, but you gotta admit it's legit...)

Re: Word Games
You could even go as far as to say it’s the only one that doesn’t end in ‘AN’

Re: Word Games
I'm afraid it has nothing to do with the endings; its much more subtle than that. Maybe requires a bit of general knowledge.

Re: Word Games
Albanian? that is a language - the others are incorrect as those countries speak languages other than their own... if you see what I mean. Switzerland - German, French, Italian, etc.

Re: Word Games
Well done, Ilsa! You've cracked it.
Albanian is the only one that describes the nationality and the language they speak.
Andorrans speak Catalan, Spanish or French.
Austrians speak German.
Belgians speak French or Flemish.
Swiss speak German, French, Italian or Romansh.

Re: Word Games
Which of the following 'United States' is the odd one out, and why?
Alaska; Arkansas; California; Delaware; Florida; Hawaii; Kentucky; Minnesota; Mississippi; Missouri; Nebraska; New Jersey; Oregon; Tennessee; Texas; Wisconsin.
Note: it's nothing to do with islands.
