Yes, I also love how beautifully drawn the old Spanish covers are. Of course, since I have an emotional attachment to them because they were the ones I read as a boy, I can't be objective. I guess this more realistic style is regarded as old-fashioned now. George's haircut in those covers is certainly old-fashioned, and too girlish for George. Anyway, we used to have some great cover illustrations in children's books.

This is a Spanish cover from one of the Happy Hollisters books, a series for younger readers than the Famous Five. These were the first books I loved when I started reading real books:
