It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I've just finished another re-read of it - Hidden House.
Love that book - clever story, and great humour with the introduction of Ern and all the 'portry'. Also Fatty's shed seems to become much cosier and the main meeting place from around that book onwards.

Thanks, Courtenay.
Sticking with Hidden House, what was the name of Mr Goon's chatterbox neighbour who sticks up for Ern?

Mrs. Murray.
The Chief looked at Fatty. "Brains are good, courage is excellent, resourcefulness is rare," he said, "but generosity crowns everything, Frederick. One of these days I'll be proud of you!" - "Vanished Prince".

Thank you Bertie.
New question:
In 'Holly Lane' when Fatty was disguised as a woman to go and sell the sale ticket to Mr. Goon, he had a handbag. What was in it?

Hi Yak, a handkerchief is one of them although it did not say scented. There are two more items, see if you can come up with them.

Ok Yak, I'll give it to you. It was a handkerchief, a powder compact and a few hairpins. Over to you.

There was a bag of sweets, and a brooch and some hankies - one of the last two had the letter G on them, but I can't remember which?
