I think it was 'Ann' spelt with an 'e' [Anne]. :D

Well done, Daisy! Exactly right on both counts (I thought I'd go with one that had two possible answers!) :)

Sorry, Poppy, it's 'Ann' (at least in the two editions I've read - are you thinking of Anne of Green Gables, who emphasises she is Anne-with-an-e as A-N-N looks common? (poor Ann!)
