‘And what a very peculiar sign it was, too,’ said Dick. ‘It was written in Welsh:

CEDWCH CYMRU DACLUS,
GADEWCH EICH RWBEL YN LLOEGH.”.’

‘Whatever did it mean?’ queried Anne.
‘Nice simply,’ said Julian with a chuckle, ‘it meant:

“WELCOME TO WALES

KEEP WALES TIDY,
DUMP YOUR RUBBISH IN ENGLAND.”!’
