Guess the Book from the Blurb
This is an idea suggested kindly from Tony Summerfield in the thread; (The Mega Writing Competition - http://enidblytonsociety.co.uk/forums/v ... =19&t=4599" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
The rules are simple.
The first person writes a short blurb of any Enid Blyton book and any of the forum members can guess for the answer. The first person to correctly guess the correct answer goes next.
To start us off:
There is an unusual break-in.
The culprit is found and locked up.
Will he escape?

Re: Guess The Book From The Blurb
You mean it isn't Missing Necklace after all?
PS: I hope Anita doesn't come by with a stick, pointing out that we're duplicating an existing thread. As it is, your blurb is looking remarkably like it could belong to the Haiku thread that we already have.

Fatty,
No my blurb is not for "The Mystery Of The Missing Necklace".
Haiku thread? Hmm. I'll look at that more closely.

Well I don't know! You suggested Trevor does this thread in the first place!Fatty wrote: PS: I hope Anita doesn't come by with a stick, pointing out that we're duplicating an existing thread. As it is, your blurb is looking remarkably like it could belong to the Haiku thread that we already have.
I agree that particular blurb looks a bit haiku-ish, but maybe we could make them rather longer?
It isn't The Mystery of the Secret Room by any chance is it Trevor?

Re: Guess The Book From The Blurb
Idea was Tony's, as Trevor said. I suggested he start a new thread only to avoid complaints of thread hijacking from iluveb. And the 'review' seemed haikuish only when I took a second look. I have rather more cryptic clues in mind if I get to post a question in future.

Re: Guess the Book from the Blurb
A great first attempt, Trevor - and I haven't a clue as to the title! Maybe in future, to make it different from the Haiku game would, as suggested, make the blurb comment longer - much as you'd see in a real book. "Rather than reviews" that Tony said referred to the Guardian Secret Seven review, not reviews on iluveb's thread.
Just a thought, yours isn't The Mystery of Holly Lane, is it?

Actually, Trevor's clue (broadly) fits a large number of books. I think Rockingdown Mystery is another, where Barney infiltrates the thieves' lair and is captured.

Any chance it could be The Boy Next Door *hopeful look*
In came the Taggertys. They were clean, except Biddy knees looked like she had been crawling half a mile in some muddy place.

Re: Guess the Book from the Blurb
Maybe we can extend it to:
There is an unusual break-in.
The culprit is found and locked up.
Will he escape?
Has he got an accompanist near-by?
EDIT: It should say 'accomplice' sorry.

I doon't think I've ever read that! Are you making a title up? I thought there were only 15 titles! Or is it a continuous novel?pete9012S wrote:The Mystery of Hazel Dene Cottage?
But no, it's not that one.
