MY EYES!!!!
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

I nearly fell asleep reading the last few replies! I'd much rather read people's accounts of much-loved Blyton books!
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Yes! Maybe it is now time for Dick to utter one of his popular phrases, "Ha ha - joke over," said Dick politely. :D

Perhaps we ought to look at these reviews in a different light, when this review can feature in a national newspaper!

Strewth! I rather like the idea of a short review, though. Maybe we could start a games thread, reviewing a book in say under 50 words!

He just did -- so go ahead and review a book in 50 words or less if you want to!

A good(?) example can be found on the back cover of Five Go Off in a Caravan (at least in my Knight paperback). The blurb reads:

A caravan holiday! Nobby, the circus boy, and Pongo the chimp... War with Lou and Tiger Dan... Poisoned meat... The caravan moves... Tunnel to gold plate... Even Anne was sorry when it was all over.

That's the story in 35 words. I must say it comes across as a sloppy way to review a book. They clearly had some lazy copy writers on board.

Who needs to read the book now though?

I'm trying to decide which book to write about, keep changing my mind as to which is my favourite.

If you don't mind me saying so Fatty, that was one lousy review. Check-out these reviews:

Nights Paperback "Five On Kirrin Island Again":

Back at Kirrin Cottage.... Where is Uncle Quentin?.... A supriing Signal.... The old map again.... Down in the caves....

And:

Nights Paperback "Five On Smuggler's Top":

Easter Gales.... The castle on top of a hill.... Dogs not allowed.... The sinister tower.... Uncle Quentin is kidnapped.... Timmy unearths fugitives....

Lousy!
